You are an industrious one, Jean. You expressed the solitude and quiet of early morning wonderfully. You are right early in the morning time stands still… and the possibilities of a new day seem infinite.

Hi Rob. I love that time-standing-still feeling. It’s hard to describe it to someone who hasn’t experienced it, but I know that you know what I’m talking about :)

Jean,
No wonder you’re always the first comment I see everywhere! 4 am – holy smokes!

I love that – the experience of the solitude – you own that time, there’s no demands.

What a great insight – if you don’t carve out time for yourself you can feel as if you’re loved ones are intruding.

Getting enough sleep is so important. I think you’re more creative when you’ve had enough rest.

Shoulds – rarely work with me. I need to want to do it and there has to be a benefit.

Great advice Jean! It was wonderful to hear your voice again.

Yes, Angela, the early bird gets the comment ;) I really do love that time of solitude. This morning I did some free-writing, read a bit from the Tao, watched the sun come up, and enjoyed the bird songs. How can a day not be glorious when it begins in such a way?

Hulbert, Jean,

You both are early risers, this is so cool. Jean, you are so funny that you said sometimes you wake up late in weekend like at 7 …ha ha.. that is early for me. I am late sleeper and late riser, scratch that, whenever kids wake up -riser.

I wish to be early riser but by the time I put the kids to bed and clean up mess of toys and do dishes it is late and then I want to enjoy my quite time by reading blogs, commenting, and creating drafts ready etc. it is a vicious cycle. What to do.

When hulbert has late riser interview series, I bet I would be first and only one! :-) Inspirational as always.

Seven used to be SO early for me, Preeti. I thought it was inhumane that anyone should be expected to get up before nine at the earliest. I laughed over your late riser series idea – that would be too funny :)

Jean.

Wow, I can not imagine :P

Hulbert is smart enough to know late riser series would be a major flop even as it might be funny! All late risers (3 of them in world, including me) would be cheering on :-) That would be silly huh?

Hulbert,

I am liking this, introduction series, goal setting series and early risers series! cool, I can not wait to see what comes next.

Hulbert,

Opps, can you change my type -error in Jean’s name? I should really learn to wait for clicking away. Sorry Jean.

Hey Preeti, it’s always nice to read your comments. It’s okay if you’re not an early riser. There are benefits to being a late riser such as having more time into the night to get tasks done and seeing the sun in the morning is always nice too. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us Preeti. :)

Wow! I guess you really make big difference when you start your day right in the morning. Awesome insight on early risers. By the way, I really like what you have done to your site Hulbert.

Hi Justin. Rising early does make a big difference in my day. On the days when I sleep later, that extra sleep can be enjoyable and restful, yet I miss that time to just enjoy the world on my own. I’m glad you said something about Hulbert’s site. I keep forgetting to tell him things are looking so good around here these days! So, Hulbert . . . things are looking so good around here these days! :)

It sounds bliss, I have to get out of the house before the kids wake up and ruin the peace and quiet but it’s wonderful to reserve the early morning for calm reflection!

Hi Annabel. I remember those days of having to leave the house to ensure some peace and quiet :) Even when I wasn’t in the pattern of early rising, there were rare mornings I would wake up before sunrise and feel driven to get up and go for a long, solitary walk. It’s like my body instinctively knew I needed some solitude.

Hi Hulbert – your re-design confused me for a moment :) Nice work!!
Great series, early risers!!

Jean, beyond the fact that you are fabulous, I loved listening to this interview. – I agree with you 100% it does sometimes take putting the alarm clock in another room – :) if it’s too close I may stay in a for a while :) of but the benefit of that sunrise ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Great, great advice to have that alarm further away & the accountability partner is great too!
– oh yes, that piece about having something that you really look forward to (Italian Coffee works for me) :)

Wonderful listening to the two of you!!!

Haha, sorry about that Aileen. Didn’t mean to confuse you. I got kind of tired of the old design and wanted to try something new. :)

I liked Jean’s advice too with the alarm clock. I thought it was kind of funny at first, but when you think about it, it’s a brilliant idea. Although I don’t personally do that, I still have to go across the work to turn off my alarm. I have a phone too so I have like three tries. Hopefully I can create a habit where I don’t need an alarm clock.

Thanks for listening to the interview Aileen. Like you, coffee is something I look forward to too!

They say that it’s nice to put a face with a name (but Jean’s profile pictures already took care of that), but it’s also nice to put a voice with a name and a face.

Dear Jean, how lovely to hear your voice – and of course you are a super star to me in every way so I am not surprised that you get up at the crack of dawn. One of these days I will MASTER my 4:30am but I travel so much and sometimes go out dancing tango which is not early-rising friendly with our milonga dances going til 1am sometimes…..I love love getting up at 4:30am and I do it most of the time and then take a short nap mid-day (aka: pass out for 30 minutes). THANK YOU for the interview!! SO much good stuff when I was out last week!!!
“You own the whole world” – the solitude is AWESOME. You are right!
