Updates from FromBottomUp

by Hulbert Lee on February 28, 2010

Hey guys. It’s Sunday here around noon and I just wanted to update you guys on what’s going on at FromBottomUp. There are going to be some new changes here. I’m taking the CSET: English (California Subject Examinations for Teachers) in a couple of weeks, so that means I’ll have less time to produce content on my site because I have to prepare for it.

That was the first thing that I wanted to talk about. The second thing is I’m going to change the design of the site. I’ve had this header for almost a year now and it’s starting to look like milk to me. The layout will also be changed. This means instead of having 10 blog entries, I’m just going to have 1 main one, and then a couple of the other ones below it. I feel like there’s too much going on here and readers are getting confused. I want to stop worrying about how many readers I get and just focus on what I like to write about.

Finally, about what I’m writing about. I feel like I’ve been not as passionate writing about personal development. What I really wanted to was to write on people and or biographies of people, like interesting facts or little stories about how they have changed other people’s lives. Except I was afraid to change this because people aren’t that interested in reading biographies, so I said no to myself. But I realized that it’s a topic that I want to write about and I thought to myself that if I’m happy with what I’m doing, than that’s probably better than not being completely happy with what I’m doing and to please others.

So yeah, starting tomorrow – March 1st, 2010 – you’ll see different changes. Again, I’m going to have less time to produce content on my site. I have to prepare for the CSET. There will be a site design change, that emphases on mainly content as well as a header design that expresses influential people. Finally, I’m going to be writing on biographies and how it relates to personal development, rather than just personal development itself. This reason was made partly because of my happiness. So yeah, basically that’s it. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up before I made these changes, and I hope you guys will still stick along.

Don’t Do Work Just for the Sake of Doing Work

by Hulbert Lee on February 25, 2010

Have you ever had a day where you felt as if you were getting work done but you really weren’t? The reason for this post today is because I think there are many people who are concerned with how to manage time in a way that makes them feel satisfied with ending the day with what they have done.

There are a lot of people who like to spend their time interacting with people in forums, tweeting on Tweeter, volleying emails back and forth, and reading or commenting on different blogs. Many experts like Gary Vaynerchuk say this is vital to growing a business and we should spend hours and hours doing this. But what happens when we spend most of our time searching for different threads to comment or reading material that ends up taking more time than usually. Hours may have passed by without us even realizing it. Here are some quick things I thought of and I think will help you out.

Thanks for stopping by for the 2nd part of the interview of my brother’s experience for getting arrested. In this part, we will go into what a jail cell looks like and feels like from his perspective. We will also be able to see what my brother’s thoughts were being confined in a place that is really unfamiliar to both of us.

Again, I am recording my brother’s voice and not everything that is written will be word for word. I will try my best to interpret his words into writing form. With that said, I’m excited to get to the end of this. I really have learned a lot about his story, and I’m glad to be able to share it with you guys. Let’s continue now from where we left off in the last entry. Enjoy.
